Dr. Julie Goldberg is a highly acclaimed and sought-after classical guitar teacher with extensive experience instructing all ages and skill levels. Her students range from complete beginners to seasoned professionals.
Julie teaches her youngest students, ages 4-7 using an interactive and listening based method which establishes a solid technical foundation, develops the young musician’s ear, and encourages musicality and expression. Parents are the at-home practice partners, and encouraged to attend lessons.
School age students focus on guitar technique, sight-reading, music theory/analysis, and musical expressions. They develop good practice habits, analytical thinking, and self directed study that prepares them for a lifetime of learning. Students are encouraged to participate in studio recitals, ensembles, and local competitions. Many of Julie’s pre-college students have gone on to earn degrees in guitar performance, music education, and music business at top schools around the country.
Guitar students interested in earning a Bachelors of Music Performance, Bachelors of Music Education, Bachelors of Arts, or Masters of Music Education can study with Dr. Goldberg at NorthPark University and VanderCook College of Music. Graduates of her programs have won top honors in music competitions and scholarships to attend top college and conservatory graduate guitar programs. Graduates have secured faculty positions teaching music in grade-schools, high-schools, community music centers, and colleges and universities. All continue to practice and perform, sharing their music with others.
Julie enjoys working with dedicated amateur guitarists and life-long learners. She is an excellent clinician, able to assess the students’ level, be it beginning or advanced and provide them with appropriate tools to ensure they reach the next level of musical mastery.
